Our area is rich in history, most of which is painstakingly memorialized. At Yorktown's Riverwalk Landing is a series of plaques honoring people and historic events related to the area. This is for the USS Yorktown.

Watermen's Museum Boats, Yorktown, Virginia

The Waterman's Museum at Yorktown displays a variety of items related to working and being on the water - a very important part of the history of the area. They also bring back life to weathered but worth craft.

Coleman Bridge, Yorktown, Virginia

The Coleman Bridge spans the York River from Yorktown to Gloucester Point. To accommodate large naval ships and cargo barges, the middle spans rotate on the two large, round columns in the middle. Despite its functionality, it is attractive bathed in the late day sun.

Lord Cornwallis' Cave, Yorktown, Virginia

In 1781, American and French troops pinned down Lord Cornwallis and the British at Yorktown. The artillery siege was so effective the townspeople and troops took refuge near this bluff. Lord Cornwallis used this cave as his headquarters until he surrendered on October 19.

The Yorktown fishing pier reaches well into the York River allowing fishermen and women of all skills a license free chance at dinner.
