Colonial Gardner at Colonial Williamsburg, Williamsburg, Virginia

Here, one of the colonial gardners is in deep thought while surveying the vegetables.  There are more than two dozen gardens - vegetable, decorative, herb and mixed- maintained by the staff.  They are painstakingly planted, maintained, and displayed as they would have been in the 1770's. A visitor can easily see how plants were started, grown, harvested, and the growing season extended with handbuilt cold-frames and bell jars.  Go here to learn more about Colonial Williamsburg's gardens.
