Special Harvest From The Gardens Of Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia
This trellis in Colonial Williamsburg is lush and leafy during the summer, providing shade from the sun. But, as fall approaches, the harvest is hanging heavy from the rafters.

I think we have used it for a container for water as well as when it is dried, you can make carvings and create a flower vase from it. (If I remember correctly). Brought back some childhood memories.
What ARE they? They look like gourds, but I think they grow out of the ground, not like this...these look like grape vines!
