Christiana Campbell's Tavern is one of the colonial eating establishments run by Colonial Williamsburg. It is locate behind the Capitol and is said to have been George Washington's favorite. It specializes in seafood which is served along with colonial style entertainment and good conversation with the costumed characters portraying the colonial personalities.
The first photo is the front of the tavern with its long porch. The second is the garden patio immediately to the rear while the final photos is the gazebo in the side yard.
In colonial times, taverns served food and beverages and rented rooms to travelers.
It must be a beautiful place to have dinner...

ReplyDeletewe had planned on eating here but it was closed when we were ready to eat so we opted for the King's Arm's Tavern, which was super yummy!
ReplyDeleteBut I have a picture of my boys sitting in rockers at this tavern :) maybe next time we'll get to eat there!
I wish you would tag the pictures with the date taken so I could see what is in bloom at this time as I am coming next week
ReplyDeleteI love this inn. If you ever get to Williamsburg it is a must. My party ate in the basement and it was fabulous and so was the food.

We apologize to anonymous and others who may wonder about the time frame. These photos were taken in mid-March because once the foliage fills in on the trees it is difficult to get a clear shot of the Tavern. Since then Spring has taken hold and flowers and tress are blooming every where.

I have reservations to eat here next week! We have been to dinner at this tavern before and always enjoyed it. The porch is a wonderful place to rest before dining after all the sightseeing, the food is delicious, and knowing the history makes the entire experience even better. I can't wait to go back. Your photos are reminding me of all of our fun vacations to Williamsburg. Linda
