The shoemaker in Colonial Williamsburg works diligently in his shop while his wares are displayed in the open window. He makes shoes in the traditional way using materials, tools and methods of the colonial era. The first shoemaker arrived in Virginia in 1610.
A perfect example of what makes Williamsburg so fascinating. Cool shot.

ReplyDeleteSo amazing to think of a shoemaker there in 1610 but of course they would need shoes while starting a new land!

I assume this is a dying art. If so, that's too bad! Real craftsmen are few and far between these days.
