Carriage Traffic Jam, Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia

These carriage drivers create the perception that the streets are full of carriages as they fill this street in Colonial Williamsburg.  While there may be four or five carriages escorting guests around the colonial district, it is usually people, not horses, who fill the streets.

  1. I wonder if there were any traffic rules in Colonial Williamsburg. Did carriages always drive on the right? How did we end up driving on the other side of the road from England?

  2. Like the way the drivers are pausing to share a few pleasantries! Great way to travel if you're not in a rush!!

  3. Reminders of a time when the pace of life was much slower. I sometimes wish we could return to it.

  4. Better than motor jam any day.
    Great shot.

  5. The wife and I had to stop and wait for a herd of riders on horseback and a covered wagon to clear an intersection a couple of weeks back. Much better than having to wait on trucks!
