Mossy Roof, Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia

With the recent unseasonably cool and unusually rainy weather for the past few weeks, moss has once again begun to assert its place on the wooden shingles of the roof of this and many buildings in Colonial Williamsburg. Maybe this is the 18th century's version of a "green" building.

  1. It's really a wonderful shot. The moss on the roof makes it romantic. Well done.

  3. Does the moss damage the roof? It isn't leaking I hope!

  4. Ever the "practical pig," I fear the moss accelerating deterioration of the shakes. Jim
