Love the gorgeous door. I'm a huge fan of Williamsburg Christmas decor. Using fresh greens and fruits is far preferable. I'm afraid I have an aversion to most things artificial.
This photo is of the front door of Bryan House, on Duke of Gloucester Street. The house was owned by my dad's uncle and aunt, Bob and Vi Simmonds. I stayed there for a month during the Christmas and New Year period in 1967/68, when I was seven years old. To a young boy from London, Williamsburg was a magical place, and I remember it being carpeted in snow during the month of January. Everyone dressed in period costume and I would walk around on my own, wearing my tricorn, visiting all of the local craftsmen and various historical buildings, where the local people all looked out for me. I have very fond memories of Williamsburg and look forward to returning to see the place again one day. Thanks for posting the photo.
Every year I vow to make pomades of oranges studded with cloves. So far nada.
