This photo of attendees at the Grand Illumination in
Colonial Williamsburg was taken about three hours before the fireworks, when it got crowded. This shot is about three quarters of a mile away from the Capitol in the background. It was a busy day in the historic district.
Seeing a crowd like this gives importance to the event. We seem to be fascinated by bright lights!
