One of the really enjoyable experiences in Colonial Williamsburg is dining at the taverns. Each provides unique colonial ambience and time period appropriate food served by costumed servers and highlighted with colonial characters and entertainers who occasionally wander through each dining room to interact and amuse diners. ReplyDeleteWhen visiting Williamsburg, many years ago, we dined at the Josiah Chowning Tavern. The food was delicious and the ambiance made me feel like I was living in the 1700s. I'm so glad it's still there, but then perhaps dining establishments don't come and go so quickly in the historical town.
