This is the Williamsburg - James City County Court House; a beautiful three story blend of architectural history and modern amenities. The three large cupolas on top provide ambient light to courtrooms and offices. Another interesting component is the large clock over the door reminding those entering to arrive on time. We wonder who bears the burden of making that large clock "spring forward" for Day Light Savings time tonight?
Wonderful shots, I like the clock. I hope you are having a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteMy eyes hurt after this first one. Sheeeesh!
ReplyDeleteThe building looks much like a megachurch in Lexington, KY. They run buses from the far reaches of the parking lot on Sundays. I do like the passive solar lighting, but that clock has a psychedelic feel to it.
ReplyDeleteNice photos! I found your blog while commenting on another one. I am in Chesapeake, VA, and have many connections with Williamsburg and surounding area. Glad to find you! If you get a chance, check out my blog at http://theroadawaitsme.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the photos and history!
What a great clock. LOve all you show us today.
ReplyDeleteWhat joy for the sense of sight. If I remember it right, Greece is about to 'change' (at least time;) next week.
ReplyDeletePlease have you all a good Sunday.
like the architecture...I'm happy it's not me who has to change their clock...I have enough clocks to change ;-) my favorite clock here at home is my "atomic" clock which changes itself for ST and DST!
ReplyDeleteForgot about daylight savings time; now off to fix the household clocks. Your clock on this post is most unusual. Wonder how color blind folks fare with that particular clock?
ReplyDeleteHaha! the clock certainly does do 'things' to the eyes, I like it a lot it's so different. I love the non tradition (or maybe they are traditional for Williamsburg) cupolas, wonderful way to let in light.
