A colonial walks Duke of Gloucester Street in Colonial Williamsburg, passing the split-rail fences of the pastures and the trash can cleverly disguised as a wooden shipping barrel. But for the red car in the distance crossing the last street allowing traffic, it could be 1770.
Split rail fences like that haven't really changed that much since the historical period for Williamsburg. You still see much the same technique used in the countryside here.
