Oddest Christmas Carol, Merchants Square, Williamsburg, Virginia

The oddest version of the Christmas Carol occurs at Colonial Williamsburg's Merchants Square. Presented from a small trailer with a stage, one actor carries the show with a hilarious sidekick who provides a variety of characters and effects. The basic story is presented but includes commentary and music from Phantom of the Opera. It is a must see if you are in the area.

The View From The Inside, Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia

While purchasing a Colonial Williamsburg baby gift for family at the "Everything Williamsburg" store, we saw these cut-out colonial figures in the front display windows. While they catch the attention of passersby on the outside, we thought they made a great shot from inside.

A Very Unusual Christmas Carol, Williamsburg, Virginia

Christmas Carol

Although Christmas is over, we really wanted to share this very neat rendition of the Christmas Carol in Merchants Square. The entire stage is the rear end of a very small trailer into which a couple of actors slipped in and out to change costumes to assume various roles. It was quite humorous and very well done.

The DOG Street Pub is the newest addition to Merchants Square and a definite must try for visitors.  It sits on Duke of Gloucester Street, affectionately known to locals as "DOG" Street and hence the name. It is a great atmosphere inside and out as you can see from this portion of their patio.  We love their website which opens with the simple instructions "Sit. Stay."
