The Trellis Restaurant, Williamsburg, Virginia

The Trellis Restaurant, of Death By Chocolate fame, has been a draw in Colonial Williamsburg's Merchants Square for thirty years. These photos show the newly renovated outdoor patio area with its new trellis.

Been there three times. 1984, single, 1986, just married and on our honeymoon, and 2004, with our two daughters in scorching heat. The Trellis was a cutting edge restaurant in the early 80's thanks to Marcel DeSaulnier's vision and talent. Death by chocolate is only one of the many things that make this restaurant so special. To this day it is still a "destination"
restaurant. It "wow"ed me the first time I ate there, fresh out of the Culinary Institute of America, knowing that Marcel was a fellow alumnus. Class operation, and when we again visit Williamsburg, we will have already made reservations. How's that for a plug????

I love your blog. We used to live in Williamsburg too, for 11 years. We now live in WV. When my husband retires, we plan to move back. It is such a beautiful town and you have captured it in your photos. Thank you for sharing.

Very delightful place, I always prefer those restaurants where dining facility is outside under a tree or cabana. This really looks very pleasant.
