On the scenic drive on Jamestown Island, you cross several little tidal canals, like this, where crabs and other animals search the muddy banks for a bite to eat at low tide then rush to the protection of the tall grass as the water reclaims the passage.

This fisherman has the most fully equipped kayak we've ever seen. He worked his way along the shore and into the dock near Riverwalk Landing easing in and out of the would be hotspots.

A cluster of bald cypress trees stands in these tidal waters partially surrounding Jamestown Island. When the tide is out their long, curved roots are visible. An osprey sits atop her nest on the nearest tree.
