Bird Bottles in Colonial Williamsburg, Williamsburg, Virginia

In colonial times, these clay bird bottles adorned the side of many homes. The bottom photo give you a closer view of the bird bottle in our back yard much earlier this year when we had snow. Our little friends seemed to appreciate the hospitality it offered.

I never heard the like. You have these bird bottles? We are birdwatchers, so this interests me. Tell me, what is the difference from a birdhouse? Can you buy them?

Very clever -- and neat looking. I'd neither heard of bird bottles either.

I have never heard of these before! I like the way they look and now I think I need at least one for my backyard.

I'm a new follower. I love this period so much. I've been to Williamsburg. My late husband and I spent a couple days there one year. I actually remember these bird bottles. I will enjoy looking around your site.
