The Capitol In Colonial Williamsburg, Williamsburg, Virginia

The Capitol in Colonial Williamsburg is the third building to stand here, the first two being destroyed by fire.  The original building, constructed in 1703, was the first building in the country to be called "capitol." In addition to playing host to politicians like Washington, Jefferson, Madison and Patrick Henry, it hosted grand social events like dances and suppers.

For a brick building, this is impressive. Your composition in the first shot is very good.

You didn't mention what year this last building was constructed. You certainly never lack for photo opportunities in Williamsburg, do you? ~karen

The original was built in 1705, the second in 1753, and the reconstruction for Colonial Williamsburg in 1928.

Go visit and take it in. The outside pictures don't do the inside justice. Breath the air in the chamber and imagine the debates that took place. Americans should feel the gravity and importance of the liberty that was born there.
