Building A Better Boat, Yorktown, Virginia

This gentleman was building a boat the old fashioned way, as you can tell by the hand tools on the table. This is part of a program with the Waterman's Museum which is opening an annex in one of these buildings. The program provides an opportunity for youths to spend some time each week working on the boat, spending a little time doing honest labor with mentors with maritime skills.

This is the right way to build a boat, at least it was. I like it.

Now that's what I call a good sturdy keel, a very constructive way for young people to spend some time.

Hi, How neat is it to see him building that boat the old-fashioned way! Love it...

Think I've told you this but I have relatives (ancestors) from Yorktown and Williamsburg... I want to get back there sometime and do more research.

Hugs,
Betsy
