High Tech Play, Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia

colonial game

This is the colonial equivalent of the video game. No batteries or remote required; just a hammer, a stout stake, and some braided rope to while away a warm summer evening with family and friends.

I played same lots of times as child. There were 3 stakes, and the one in the middle gave 1 point more than the 2 others :)

Those are the best games for a summery evening. More in the south op Europe people do play Jeu de Boules, same idea for a summer night.

quoit (koits, kwoits) I believe played different ways in different parts of the uk the red post is called Hobb, mot, or pin, todays version is played with plastic rings sold at the seaside resorts for families to wile away the hours. usually the rings get gnarled by dogs who have no interest in the game of quoits.
