Seagulls' Rest, Jamestown Island, Williamsburg, Virginia

Walking on Water

This pond wraps around Jamestown Island and is connected to the James River by a small inlet. It is dramatically affected by the tides on the river. While the boaters enjoy fishing, in the center of the photo is a line of seagulls resting on the yet uncovered portion of a sandbar, which at low tide looks like a small island.
