The Ferry, Williamsburg, Virginia

The Jamestown-Scotland Ferry offers free crossings of the James River.  It is a great respite in the midst of most journeys. Recently, a young couple delivered their baby during the crossing. Maybe ferries, rather than storks, really deliver babies.

Jamestown Island Sunset, Williamsburg, Virginia

Historic Jamestown Island, Williamsburg is one of the most beautiful spots to watch sunsets.  We have many wonderful sunset pictures from the island.  The island is the site of the first permanent English settlement in 1607.  Among those settlers was Captain John Smith - and yes, this is the land where Pocahontas lived and met John Smith. Also in this picture you can see the dark outline of the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry that runs day and night transporting people from Williamsburg to beautiful Surry, Virginia.  The drive-on ferry is a free 20 minute ride, and on a good weather day, the veiw is wonderful.

The Jamestown-Scotland Ferry, Williamsburg, Virginia

While it is a little cold right now to get outside of your car to enjoy the view the ferry provides, we enjoy taking the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry from Williamsburg to Surry across the beautiful James River year round.  We have many beautiful pictures and memories of this wonderful, free attraction in Williamsburg, Virginia.
These are just a few pictures of some of the ferries, we will post more later.
