Robin Eating Berries In The Snow, Williamsburg, Virginia

We caught this chubby little fellow, along with many friends, eating the berries off our trees, despite the snow. We never saw robins flock like this before; counting thirty-five at once.

The statues of John Marshall and George Wythe, the namesakes of the College of  William & Mary Marshall-Wythe School of Law quickly embraced the snow as it began to fall.

Bird Bottle In Snow, Williamsburg, Virginia

Like much of the east coast, we have done little other than deal with snow and ice for the past week. This bird bottle carries the nearly eight inches we had Thursday.

Snow Birds, Williamsburg, Virginia

Snow Birds

We received another couple inches of snow yesterday. These little guys are not deterred in waiting for us to vacate the yard so they can visit the bird feeders.

Snow On The Roof,College Of William And Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia

We had snow two weekends in a row; very unusual.  The day after the snow, this is what was left. As you can see, the roof of the President's house at the College of William & Mary had a little powder remaining on the side shielded from the sun. Today it will be in the 70's so little chance of snow this weekend.

We do not get much snow in Williamsburg and winter is fairly mild. However, last weekend we had a little although it was gone by the next day.  Oh well, it was pretty while it lasted.

Snow In Williamsburg, Virginia - Round 2

Well, it is not over yet, but I do believe we were spared what could have been a very large snow fall like north and west of us.  We talked to family in Pennsylvania and Maryland and the amounts were from 12 to 24 inches or more.  I wonder what the rest of Williamsburg looks like- so far I think we have about 2 to 3 inches.   Soon it will be safe to walk, drive and wander about with camera in hand - until then these are just a few photos of our little backyard.

Snow in Williamsburg, Virginia - Snow Storm of January 2010

It is a rare event in Williamsburg, Virginia for it to snow.  Our dogs seemed perplexed and excited, sorta.  Sydney our Aussie/Border Collie mix loved the snow and Rachel our Jack Russell would rather it be sunny and 85 degrees.  We received about 6 inches of snow in our Williamsburg area while some surrounding areas got more.
