The Gathering, Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia

The Gathering

A group of colonists gathering on the edge of the Palace Green likely caused concern for those loyal to the crown. As revolution approached, the population became politically divided and tensions flared.

The Beautiful Walkway, Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia

Every Walkway is Beautiful

In an area in which every walkway is beautiful, the sidewalk in front of the St. George Tucker House is one of our favorites. The large, twisting tree limbs reach over the vine-covered fence shading the delicate blossoms in the vine and creating a visual delight.

Randolph House, Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia

Peyton's Shadow

This is a portion of the side of the Peyton Randolph house in Colonial Williamsburg. It is probably one of the largest properties in town and at a prime location on the square near the courthouse. Randolph, a prominent figure in the 1770's, was the President of the First and Second Continental Congress in 1774 and 1775. Unfortunately, his health failed and he died in 1775. He was considered the "father of his country" before his death; a title which passed to George Washington after the Revolution.
