Beautiful Landscape, Yorktown, Virginia
This gate and birdhouse are from a private residence that sits on the edge of Historic Yorktown. The pineapple was a sign of welcome in colonial times. They blend beautifully with the quaint historical town that was the site of the last great battle of the American Revolution at which Cornwallis surrendered, effectively ending the war.

What exactly is the story behind the pineapple and 'welcome'? What's the connection? I'm sure it's simple. Anybody know?

I have always loved white fences. It is a lovely yard and the birdhouse is a great addition too. Lovely photos.
Very nice photos. I love that the private residents are helping keep the feeling of the colonial era.
